മനിക്കേയന്‍ കുരിശ് എന്ന് മാര്‍ത്തോമ്മ കുരിശായി?

സിറോ മലബാര്‍ ല്‍ കലഹത്തിനു വഴി വച്ച മാര്‍ത്തോമ കുരിശിന്റെ ആഗമനം 1988- ല്‍ ഫാദര്‍ വഴുതനപള്ളി രചിച്ച THE BIBLICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE MAR THOMA SLIBA എന്നാ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ കുടെയാണ്. മൈലാപൂര്‍ കുരിശ,പല്ലവി കുരിശു , പേര്‍ഷ്യന്‍ കുരിശു മുതലായ പേരുകളില്‍ അതുവരെ അറിയപെട്ടിരുന്ന മനിക്കേയന്‍ കുരിശിനു മാര്‍ത്തോമ കുരിശു എന്ന് പേരിട്ടത് Fr.Vazhuthanapalli ആണ്. He wrote in the heading ‘Mar Thoma Sliba, an apt name ‘ ‘ why do I choose the name ’MTS? MTS is a syriac name (Term) commonly accepted and used by most of the MTN .(Mar thoma Nasaranees) - അതായതു ഈ കുരിശിനു മാമോദിസ നല്‍കി മാര്‍ത്തോമ സ്ലീബ ആക്കിയത് ഈ പുസ്തകത്തോടെ ആണ്. 1977 ല്‍- കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പള്ളി രൂപത സ്ഥാപിതമായപ്പോള്‍ coat of arms ആയി പുറത്തുവന്ന ഈ ചിഹ്ന്നത്തെ സിറോ മലബാര്‍ സഭയുടെ official kurisu ആക്കുവനുള്ള ഗൂഢാലോചന ആരംഭിച്ചത് -1983 ലെ ചീറ്റി പോയ നിലക്കല്‍ സംഭവതോടെയാണെന്ന് കരുതാം. ഭാരത സഭയുടെ official history book എന്ന നിലയില്‍ അറിയപെടുന്ന ‘ഭാരത സഭ ചരിത്രം’ 1980 ല്‍ പുറത്തു വന്നപ്പോള്‍ വളരെ വിസ്തരിച്ചു തന്നെ മാര്‍ത്തോമ നസ്രാണികളുടെ എല്ലാ പാരംബരിയങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ച് എഴുതിയ Fr.Xavier Koodapuzha മാര്‍ത്തോമ കുരിഷിനെകുരിച് ഒരക്ഷരം പോലും എഴുതിയിട്ടില്ല. Also he did not write a single sentance about the discovery of this cross by portgheese from Mylapore as claimed . എന്നാല്‍ ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ (1989) സെക്കന്റ്‌ എഡിഷന്‍ ഈ കുരിശിന്റെ photo സഹിതം അതിപുരാതന്‍ കാലം മുതല്‍ പ്രചാരത്തിലിരുന്ന മാര്‍ത്തോമ സ്ലീവയുടെ രൂപം എന്നെഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1991 -മൂന്നാം പതിപ്പ് ഈ കുരിശിനെ നസ്രാണി പൈതൃകത്തിന്റെ തനിമയാര്‍ന്ന ചിഹ്നം എന്ന നിലയില്‍ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത് ചരിത്രത്തെ വളച്ചൊടിച്ചു നടത്തിയ ഒരു ഗൂടാലോച്ചനയുടെ ഭാഗം ആണോ അതോ കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പള്ളി മെത്രാനായിരുന്ന ബഹു .POWATHIL നെ പ്രീതി നേടുവാനയിരുന്നോ എന്നുള്ളത് ചിന്തനിയം. Also worth mention is the fact that other books explaining the history of Asian Christianity does not give any mention to this cross as Marthoma Cross.Dr. N.A.Thomas , in his book ASIAN MARTHOMA SABAKAL(1982) give the description as ‘Pallavi Cross”. Dr.A.M, Mundadan in his book “.History of Christianilty in India”(1984) also does not name this cross as Marthoma Sliba. Even Fr.Plazid Podipara mentioned this cross as Persian Cross only. 1986 ലെ മാര്‍പാപ്പയുടെ സന്ദര്‍ശനവേലയിലും ഈ കുരിശിന്റെ മഹാത്മിയം ഒരിടത്തും പറഞ്ഞു കേട്ടില്ല. At the same time, Fr.Vazhuthanappalli and other scholers, mentioned this cross as made in between AD 500-600 and accepts that the writings are in PAHLLAHI language, the then language in Persia minor.It is time for Bishop Angadiyathu or other Bishops to explain how a cross made in AD 500-600, with foreign language inscriptions became the symbol of Kerala Catholics whose history start from St.Thomas in AD 52? കടപ്പാട്.- “മാനിക്കെയന്‍ കുരിശു വിവാദം” book by –Joseph Pulikunnel

Fr.Xavier Koodapuzha is the one who helped Powethil to play under ground dirty game of making manikyan cross as St. thomas cross while serving at kanjirappally Diocese.

Using printing press of Kanjirapaaly Diocese printed and supplied all prayer books with picture of Claver cross everywhere in the book free to all other Diocese churches to start the ground work of kaldaya valkaranam.

How can a person change his views so drastically, did Powethil quatation gang threatened this Koodapuzha guy? You decide

Excelent information.Now we know how this pagen cross comes to Syro Malabar Church.In Kerala,only the Orthodox Christian fraction uses this cross as their official cross.Is there any hidden agenda to put the Syro Malabar under orthodox group?.

I still remember this, like yesterday, the Nilakkal drama by Powethil and cronies.

A cross from nowhere with scripting in Paklavi language originated in Iran in 6th centuray in AD 52 cross, what a joke? ha ha ha ke ke ke ho ho ho,, jerks

This incident started the downfall of our SMC in general, thanks to manikyan Claver Cross

There are lot of people among us who don't say anything against our higher ups even though we know for sure they are doing wrong...

please realize what is at stake...

it is our Catholic Faith... please let brutal authorities know this can't go on anymore with this claver cross anywhere ....

Very Good information about Manichean Cross. Also someone please do some research about the thesis written by the German Historian, Bernel. Please post these kind of article which we can show to our children and teach them about our tradition and faith. If you call Catholic then you should also know the meaning of catholic. if you want a seperate identity then you are not catholics. We have to stand unified in Jesus for faith, not for Power. Do not support the Power thirst culprits. Neglect the feet lickers, teach the the poor ignorants. Please do not post dirty gossips and comments of utter nonsense by mentally sick criminals about our priests and members. We, Syro Malabar Catholics neither want to read nor wish our children to read "Manjappatram". We have a strict boundry and a great culture, be proud of that.

Your comments are nothing but nonsense, that doesn't worth any answer. Ignorance is Bliss for people like you. If you are really seeking the truth, just pray to Almighty God, and read the Holy Bible, that is where I found all the answers for my question. otherwise read those articles about it. No bishops or priest who proclaim Manichean Cross have ever given any sensible answers to our questions. They only create more confusion among the faithful. You just think yourself, in which saints hands have you ever seen this cross of abomination? what is the fruit it bears since it's introduction in our church? Christianity was almost wiped out from The Middle East after they started worshiping this satanic cross. What more answer do you expect?

remeber when mar varkey came to chicago to bless the cathedral, the cross was still there. he hasnot said any thing against it. or did he also turn to be a deciple of powathil?????

It is our responsibility to defend our faith. There is nothing on earth, beneath the earth that equate to a crucifix. Today the Syro Malabar churches in USA deny the eternal truths and replacing them with ungodly. Mar-thoma cross is a pegan, man made creation. Please educate our kids about the truth and warned them about the recent ungodly practices of our SMC –USA under the Chicago diocese.

Bishop Angadiath should not impose his pegan belief to the faithful and we beg to the Bishop not to destroy our unity in the church, please leave something good for the community.

T മാതൃകയിലുള്ള കുരിശിലാണ് ഈശോയെ തറച്ചതെന്ന് ചരിത്രകാരന്മാര്‍ സംശയലേശമെന്യേ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ‘താവ്’ അടയാളം എന്നാണ് ഹീബ്രുവില്‍ ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഈ ‘താവ്’ നെയാണ് ബൈബിളിന്റെ ലത്തീന്‍ വിവര്‍ത്തനമായ ‘വുള്‍ഗാത്ത’ യില്‍ വിശുദ്ധ ജെറോം ‘Crux' (കുരിശ്) എന്ന് വിവര്‍ത്തനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഹീബ്രു അക്ഷരമാലയിലെ അവസാനത്തെ അക്ഷരമാണ് ‘താവ് ’ (ഗ്രീക്കില്‍ ഒമേഗാ). ഈ അടയാളമാണ് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ആദിമ സഭയില്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നത്. പിന്നീട് വിവിധ സഭകള്‍ അവരുടെ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിനനുസരിച്ച് ഈശോയെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കാനായി വിവിധ ചിഹ്നങ്ങള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതായി കാണാം. ‘യേസൂസ്’ എന്ന പേരിന്റെ നാമാക്ഷരങ്ങള്‍ മുതല്‍ ആട്ടിടയന്‍, പ്രാവ്, നങ്കൂരം തുടങ്ങീ അടയാളങ്ങളും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി. അങ്ങിനെയാണ് വിവിധ സഭാ പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങളില്‍ അവരുടെ ദൈവശാസ്ത്രത്തിന് യോജ്യമായ അടയാളങ്ങളും പ്രതീകങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്. അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് ക്രൂശിത രൂപം നിലവില്‍ വരുന്നത്. ഈശോയുടെ മനുഷ്യത്വത്തെ നിഷേധിച്ച പാഷണ്ഡതകളെ എതിര്‍ക്കുവാന്‍ ‘പച്ചമനുഷ്യന്റെ നിസാഹയതയില്‍ ഈശൊ മരിച്ചു’ എന്ന വിശ്വാസം ഉറപ്പിക്കുവാനുള്ള ഉപാധിയായിട്ടാണ് ക്രൂശിതന്റെ രൂപം ചിത്രീകരിക്കുവാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഇന്ന് നാം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലുള്ള ക്രൂശിതരൂപങ്ങള്‍ 18-19 നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് നിലവില്‍ വന്നത്. 1599-നു മുന്‍പ് ഭാരതസഭയില്‍ ക്രൂശിതരൂപം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. ഉത്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം പ്രഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ദൈവശാസ്ത്രത്തില്‍ നിലകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഭാരത സുറിയാനി സഭ-യുടെ കുരിശിനെ മനസ്സിലാക്കാന്‍ പോര്‍ട്ടുഗീസ് മിഷനറിമാര്‍ക്ക് സാധിക്കാതിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ അവര്‍ അള്‍ത്താരയില്‍-നിന്നും ഈ കുരിശിനെ അടര്‍ത്തി മാറ്റി പകരം ക്രൂശിത രൂപവും അവരുടെ ദൈവശാസ്ത്രവും അടിച്ചേല്‍പ്പികുകയായിരുന്നു. കൂനന്‍ കുരിശു സത്യത്തിലൂടെ ഈ വൈദേശികാധിപത്യത്തോട് എതിര്‍പ്പ് പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച് മാറിപ്പോയവരായ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങള്‍ ( ‘ഓര്‍ത്തഡോക്സ്’ ‘യാക്കോബായ’) വിഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നും ഈ ‘പേര്‍ഷ്യന്‍’ കുരിശാണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. കുരിശിനെപ്പറ്റി കൂടുതല്‍ അറിയേണ്ടവര്‍ ഡോ. ജോസഫ് വഴുതനപ്പള്ളി രചിച്ച ‘കുരിശിന്റെ ഭോഷത്തം’ എന്ന പുസ്തകം വാങ്ങി വായിക്കുക.

So this is not brought by St. Thomas himself, So why is Powethil and cronies calling this St. Thomas cross and they say it was found from the tomb of St. Thomas in Mylapoore?

Persian cross is St. Thomas cross

IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THE PORTUGESE DESTROYED ALL WRITINGS ABOUT HE HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY IN KERALA.
